Alice Springs Police have arrested a 49-year-old man after he allegedly slashed a woman with a kitchen knife.
Senior Sergeant Travis Wurst said the man was charged following an incident at Walpri Camp, Alice Springs.
“The man and a woman were drinking alcohol together late on Monday night,” Senior Sergeant Wurst said.
“When there was no alcohol left the man became irritated and a scuffle ensued. The man then allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and slashed the side of the woman’s neck and back causing minor injuries.”
The man was arrested on Monday and charged with:
Engage in conduct that contravenes a domestic violence order;
Aggravated assault;
Use a controlled weapon at night.
He was remanded in custody to appear in court in Alice Springs on 5 March.
