Man Arrested for Possession of Child Abuse Material - Darwin

Police

A 50-year-old Fannie Bay man will appear in court next week facing charges of possession of child abuse material.

Detective Acting Superintendent Scott Manley of the Sex Crime Unit said NT Police online investigators worked in conjunction with experts from other jurisdictions resulting in a male being identified downloading child abuse images via the internet.

“This resulted in the execution of a search warrant on his residence yesterday and numerous child abuse images being located on storage in his possession," Detective Acting Superintendent Manley said.

“Evidence of the male filming children voyeuristically in public venues was also located.

"The public is reminded to be alert to and report any such suspicious activity around children as their safety is of paramount importance.”

The man was bailed to appear at the Darwin Court of Summary Jurisdiction on Wednesday 11 April 2012.
