Hit and Run - Fatal - Humpty Doo - Charges

Police have charged a 37-year-old woman, following a fatal crash involving a 35-year-old man, which occurred in Humpty Doo on Sunday morning.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant John Worrall said the woman was charged last night with hit and run causing death and is to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on 15 January, 2013.

“The 35-year-old man, who has now been formally identified, is believed to have been lying on the roadway on Zamia Road when he was struck by a passing Mitsubishi Lancer,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Worrall said.

“Police have also interviewed three passengers who had been in the vehicle during the course of the evening, as well as a number of people who were in the victim’s company prior to the crash. A number of other witnesses are also being spoken to.

“Police would like to thank all those who have come forward with information, and I urge anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the crash, to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
