Fatal Motorcycle Crash - Darwin

Police

A man has been killed in a motorcycle crash in Darwin.

Sergeant Robin Kidney said the man was riding his motorcycle along Lee Point Road when the crash occurred.

“The crash occurred near the corner of Lee Point Road and Jabiru Street in Darwin’s northern suburbs at 4.45 this afternoon,” Sergeant Kidney said.

“An off duty firefighter and a remote nurse rendered assistance to the man until St John Ambulance arrived.

“The man was transported to the Royal Darwin Hospital but despite the efforts of all, unfortunately, the man died.

“It appears speed may have been a factor but investigations into the crash are continuing.

“This is a tragic end to the long weekend and is a reminder to all road users to take care.”

The man’s death brings the Northern Territory’s 2012 road toll to 14.

No further details will be released at this time.
