Four people were injured after a head on crash in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park yesterday afternoon.

Senior Constable David Ellis said Police received the report of a crash on the Lasseter Highway, involving a Ford Ranger and a Mitsubishi Pajero, just before 2:30 pm.

“Police, Fire and Rescue and St John Ambulance crews attended the scene. The 54-year-old female passenger of the Pajero, 29-year-old female driver of the Ford Ranger and two of her passengers, a 30-year-old male and a 10-year-old girl, were all injured in the crash. The 53-year-old male driver of the Pajero and a seven-year-old boy travelling in the Ford Ranger received minor injuries,” said Senior Constable Ellis.

“Initial investigations indicate that the Pajero was driving on the wrong side of the road when it crashed into the Ford Ranger, which was travelling on the correct side of the road.

“The information we have suggests the driver of the Pajero, a French National, may have forgotten which side of the road to drive on when he exited a car park.

“This was a serious crash and it is amazing that no one was more critically injured, or worse.”

Investigations are continuing.
