Caught After Court - Darwin

Police

Police have arrested a man after he was caught driving while disqualified and without a seatbelt just moments after he had his licence disqualified by a Darwin magistrate.

The 21-year-old Darwin man, who had faced court at 10am this morning and had had his licence suspended for six months, was pulled over by Police on the Stuart Highway at 10.55.

Sergeant Jason Archer said when Police asked the man if he had a licence he allegedly told them it had been disqualified.

“Police allege the man told them he was worried about being late for work so decided to drive,” Sergeant Archer said.

He will face Darwin Magistrates Court this afternoon on charges of drive a motor vehicle while disqualified and drive without seatbelt fastened.
