Car Fire - Alice Springs

Police

Police and Fire units were called to a vehicle fire near Kurnoth camp (Charles Creek Camp) at about 4.30am this morning.

Fire units quickly extinguished the blaze and early Police investigations have found the car was taken from an address in Kekwick Avenue Braitling sometime earlier in the evening.

The Toyota Camry was totally destroyed in the fire.

Detectives are calling for witnesses to either suspicious behaviour by a person or people in the vicinity of Braitling or anyone who may have noticed the car or people in the Sturt area prior to and immediately after the blaze near Kurnoth camp.

Senior Sergeant Travis Wurst said any information could help Police find who was responsible.

“The people of Alice Springs have been an enormous help to the Police in combating anti-social behaviour and every bit of information we receive, regardless of how small or insignificant it may seem at the time, can be the piece that we need to successfully prosecute these offenders.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call Police on 131 444 or they can phone Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000
