Police are calling on members of the public who may have witnessed an attempted assault on a woman in Alawa to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Mark Malogorski from the General Crime Section said the incident occurred on Lakeside Drive, approximately 100 metres from Trower Road.

“It was reported that a 26-year-old woman was riding her bicycle along the bike path on Lakeside Drive at around 10:00 pm on Sunday when she was approached from behind by a man on a bicycle,” Detective Sergeant Malogorski said.

“He has then crashed into the back of her bike, causing them both to fall off. He has then pinned her to the ground. It was at this time that a passing vehicle disturbed the man, causing him to flee the scene.

“Police particularly wish to speak to the person or people from within that vehicle, or anyone else that may have witnessed the incident and can be contacted directly on 131 444.”
