Arnhem Hwy Cut

Police

Authorities are urging motorists not to take risks by trying to cross flooded roads or highways.

“Floodwater has cut the Arnhem Highway on the floodplain near the ‘Windows on the Wetlands’.” Said Police Superintendent Dean Moloney.

“Extraordinarily some motorists have ignored the road closure signs and proceeded to cross the flooded Highway.” Said Supt Moloney.

“There’s a serious risk motorists could become stranded, forcing Police and Emergency Services to risk their lives to rescue them.”

“That stretch of the Highway could be cut for up to four to five days.” Said Supt Moloney.
