Aggravated Assault - Nhulunbuy

Police

A 19 year-old man has this afternoon been charged with Aggravated Assault and Going Armed in Public following an incident in a remote community, one and a half hours drive from Nhulunbuy.

Police will allege the man struck his 21 year-old partner to the head several times with a 35 centimetre axe.

The victim was transported by bush taxi to Nhulunbuy Hospital from the community yesterday.

Senior Sergeant Brendan Muldoon said the man will front the Nhulunbuy Magistrates Court on May the 2nd.

“The woman has stiches to her head and face and is in a stable condition.  It would appear the man has used the blunt end of the axe in the attack.”
