General Crime Detectives have arrested and charged a 25-year-old male in relation to the aggravated assault that occurred on Monday on Trower Road, Casuarina.

It is alleged that around 4:40 pm the 25-year-old approached a 21-year-old male who had stopped on his bicycle out the front of the Motor Vehicle Registry office.

Detective Acting Superintendent Scott Pollock said the victim was then assaulted before the alleged offender ran from the scene into a waiting vehicle.

“Detectives located the man at a residence in Wanguri at around 2:00 pm yesterday,” said Detective Acting Superintendent Pollock.

“He’s since been charged with aggravated assault and was bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrate’s Court on 3 Jan 2012.
