The Northern Territory Police Force have arrested a 42-year-old man after an aggravated assault in Katherine yesterday.

Around 4:30pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that a man had allegedly discharged a taser at another man at a residence on Lockheed Road after an altercation.

Both men are known to one another. The victim, aged in his forties, suffered a minor injury to his chin.

Police recovered the used taser cartridge but were not able to locate the device.

At around 7:10pm, police located and arrested the offender at a nearby residence. Charges are expected to be laid later today.
