Two Seriously Injured after Alice Springs Crash

Police

Two 16-year-old girls have been injured after being involved in a crash in Alice Springs yesterday afternoon. The Major Crash unit is investigating how the Ford Festiva and Toyota Hilux came to collide at the intersection of Elder Street and Milner Road at about 4:45 pm.

Both vehicles ended up on their roofs after the crash. The 31-year-old driver of the Hilux was taken to hospital as a precaution and released shortly after.

Detective Senior Sergeant Debra Gabolinscy of the Major Crash Investigation Section said that both 16-year-old girls remain in the Alice Springs Hospital.

“Remember, Operation Crossroads members will be out in force across the Territory through to 3 January next year. I strongly urge everyone to slow down, buckle up and arrive safely as there are already too many Territory families spending their first Christmas without a loved one,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Gabolinscy.

“I wish everyone a very safe Christmas and New Years.”

Investigations into the crash are continuing.

Police urge anyone that may have witnessed the crash, to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
