Teen arrested over robbery - Alice Springs

A 13-year-old boy is in custody following a robbery which occurred in the Alice Springs CBD overnight.

Police allege the boy was one of five offenders who assaulted and robbed a 19-year-old man near the KFC carpark just after 2am. The victim told police he was walking west along Stott Terrace when  he was chased by the group of five males. When they caught up with him one of them punched him in the nose and the group fled with some of the victim’s cash. The incident was captured on CCTV footage.

The victim flagged down a passing police car and described the offenders. The 13-year-old boy was arrested in Bloomfield Street a short time later. He is yet to be interviewed.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward. Anyone with information should phone police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
