Suspicious Person - Alice Springs

Police

Alice Springs Police would like to remind parents and children of the Four R’s following an incident in Gillen yesterday.

Senior Sergeant David Richardson said that an 11-year-old girl was walking along Finlayson Street at about 5:15pm when the incident occurred.

"The girl walked down the laneway between Finlayson Street and Standley Street, and at the end of the laneway an orange ute stopped in front of her.

"The single male occupant of the ute has then allegedly gestured for her to come to the car and said something to the effect of "come here".

"The girl did the right thing and ran from the area and reported the incident straight away.

"The vehicle has been described to us as being a new model orange ute with "flash wheels".

"The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, brown hair, blue eyes and was clean shaven. He was wearing a black t-shirt with orange stripe on the shoulder," said Senior Sergeant Richardson.

Police urge all parents across the Territory to sit down with their children and remind them of the ‘Four R’s’:
- Recognise the danger
- Refuse any offer
- Run away
- Report it to the first person they feel safe with.

Anyone that may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area, or who may have any information that could assist Police are encouraged to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
