NT Police are investigating a suspicious car fire that occurred in Marlow Lagoon overnight.

Police and NT Fire and Rescue attended the scene at approximately 10:10 pm and found the car engulfed in flames.

Fire and Rescue members extinguished the car fire along with a grass fire that had spread to nearby spear grass.

The green Ford Laser Sedan was completely destroyed as a result of the fire.

Further inquiries revealed the vehicle had been stolen from a nearby Rosebery residence, but this was yet to be discovered by the owners and reported to police.

Police urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area, or who may have any information in relation to the stolen car, to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
