Northern Territory Police have formally identified the skeletal remains located in a car recovered from the Darwin River on 20 September 2011, as that of missing Darwin River woman, Karen Kelly.

Detective Sergeant Tony Henrys said the DNA analysis has been completed and Ms Kelly has been identified, hopefully her family will now have some closure.

Major Crime Section Detectives are currently completing their investigation and preparing a brief of evidence for the Coroner.

Ms Kelly’s family have been advised of the findings.
