The Territory’s road toll has risen to 44.

About half-past-two this morning Police received a report of a pedestrian being struck by a road train near Elliott.

Staff from the local Health Clinic attended the scene but the 37-year-old man was pronounced dead.

Officers from the Alice Springs Major Crash Unit will investigate the incident.

Motorists are advised a diversion around the site will be in place until Major Crash Officers complete their investigations.

The death brings the Territory road toll to 44, compared to 47 at the same time last year.
