Led by Senior Sergeant Stephen Martin, the Territory team provided significant support to New Zealand Police, whose own officers suffered the loss of relatives and uninhabitable homes in last month's earthquake.

Sworn in as Special Constables, Territory Officers conducted general duties patrols, including low risk searches of rubble and vehicle recovery operations - all while aftershocks continued throughout the damaged city.

The arrival of the Territory Police contingent follows the return to Darwin of the Disaster Victims Identification team and Urban Search and Rescue team over the last fortnight.
