Missing Person - Mrs Ingrid Phillips - Katherine - Update

Police

NT Police and Emergency Services are continuing to search for 80-year-old Katherine woman, Ingrid Phillips, who went missing from her home on Zimin Drive early yesterday morning.

Senior Sergeant Gavin Kennedy said members from Katherine Police, Territory Response Group, Emergency Services and over 50 local community volunteers have been conducting extensive air and ground searches for Mrs Phillips since yesterday.

“Searches re-commenced again at first light this morning and we are utilising helicopters, quad bikes, motorbikes, horses, cars and people on the ground in foot search teams.

“The Katherine community have really come together in the search for Mrs Phillips. We have a number of teams made up of Police, Emergency Services and volunteers as part of a coordinated search effort. We need to ensure we all work together and that any information is being passed on to our Search and Rescue Management Coordinator.

“Information received late last night is that there was a possible sighting of Mrs Phillips yesterday at lunch-time walking along Riverbank Drive, in the vicinity of Condon Street. This information points to one of the best ways that Katherine residents can assist with the search is by checking their own property and walking their own street in case Mrs Phillips has wandered onto someone’s property.

“With the large amount of assistance of the community, we remain hopeful that someone will find Mrs Phillips safe and well. Having a loved one go missing is a traumatic experience for a family. It is great to see so much support coming through and so many Katherine people wanting to help.

“Mrs Phillips wandered away from her home on Zimin Drive sometime between 2:00 am and 4:00 am yesterday. She suffers from Dementia, Alzheimer's disease and diabetes, for which she requires daily medication.

“Mrs Phillips is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 155cms in height, skinny build and approximately 60kg. She has blue eyes and short curly white coloured hair.  She is considered to be quite mobile for her age.

“It is believed that she was wearing a pair of khaki grey coloured ¾ pants, a navy blue floral button up shirt with a brooch on it, and a pair of navy blue flat shoes with a velcro strap. She may also be carrying a brown shoulder bag," said Senior Sergeant Kennedy.

NT Police welcome the community support to help find Mrs Phillips and we have already received 69 shares from the Northern Territory Police Facebook post. The more shares through Facebook and any other mediums help increase our eyes and ears on the ground. Police urge anyone with information or anyone that sights Mrs Phillips to contact them on 131 444.
