Police

Police in Jabiru are urging residents to prepare for Cyclone Grant.

Latest information suggests the Jabiru region could experience strong winds as early as 0530 tomorrow morning.

Sergeant Roger Ilett says people need to ensure their cyclone kit is up to date.

“People are also encouraged to stay tuned to their radio for regular updates on the movement and threat posed by Cyclone Grant.”

“If Cyclone Grant continues on its predicted path, Jabiru could experience some cyclonic conditions.” Said Sergeant Ilett.

Police are currently advising Outstation residents to have their evacuation plans in order and be prepared to move to a cyclone shelter at short notice.

Authorities are also advising, the town’s Cyclone Warning Siren will sound two hours prior to Cyclone Grant affecting Jabiru.

Jabiru’s cyclone shelter is the Jabiru Town Hall.
