Five offenders apprehended following numerous offences throughout the Territory

Police

Four youths and an adult were arrested by Police yesterday following a number of unlawful entries on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

It is alleged that a 17-year-old male youth unlawfully entered a house in Malabar Court in Larrakeyah on Tuesday night.

Detective Sergeant Rob James said that the male stole a set of car keys and alcohol and subsequently, the home owners Subaru Forrester. The vehicle was driven around Darwin, picking up three youths aged 12-17 and an 18-year-old.

“The group fled to Palmerston in the vehicle and abandoned it after crashing on Tamarind Road, causing significant damage to the vehicle,” said Detective Sergeant James.

“It is alleged that they then gained entry to a residence in Achernar Court in Woodroffe and stole a set of car keys and a wallet.

“A Triton Utility was taken from the residence and abandoned on the Stuart Highway about 7 kms north of Hayes Creek.

“It is believed that four of them remained in the vehicle whilst one made their way to Hayes Creek, unlawfully entered a caravan and stole a vehicle from an inn, this time opting for a Holden utility.

“The offenders collected the remaining passengers and travelled to Pine Creek, where the vehicle has rolled at the Stuart Highway and Main Terrace intersection at around 9:00 am.

“Pine Creek, Adelaide River Police and Northern Traffic Operations members arrested the group and conveyed them back to Darwin.

Palmerston Tactical Team members have charged a 17-year-old male with the following offences:

  • Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle (x3)

  • Stealing (x3)
  • Resist arrest
  • Assault Police
  • And numerous other traffic offences.

The 18-year-old was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle (x3).

The remaining three were released into the care of a responsible adult.
