Members from Port Keats and the Major Crash Investigation Section are investigating a fatal rollover that occurred late this morning, killing a young child.

Detective Senior Sergeant Debra Gabolinscy said that the single vehicle rollover occurred approximately 10kms west of Wadeye.

“The young girl died as a result of the crash and investigations to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Gabolinscy.

“This is a tragic incident, especially so close to Christmas. I again implore all road users to take extreme care on all of our roads in all circumstances and conditions.”  

This now takes the NT road toll to 43 compared to 47 for the same period last year.
