Fatal – Arnhem Highway – Humpty Doo

Police

Major Crash Investigators remain at the scene of a fatal crash that occurred at around 4:20 pm this afternoon in Humpty Doo.

Sergeant Mark Casey of the Major Crash Investigation Section said the crash occurred between a four wheel drive and a road train carrying gravel outside the United Service Station on the Arnhem Highway.

“The driver of the four wheel drive died at the scene and the road train driver was ejected through the windscreen of the vehicle after crashing into a tree,” said Sergeant Casey.

“He was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital with leg injuries.

“A section of the Arnhem Highway between Freds Pass Road and Produce Road will remain closed as investigations continue.

“The roads are wet after this afternoon’s downpour and I urge everyone to drive with extreme care.”

Police urge anyone that may have witnessed the crash, or who may have been in the area at the time to contact them on 131 444.

This now takes the NT road toll to 42 compared to 47 for the same period last year.
