Drunk drivers -Alice Springs

Two people will face court after police caught them drink driving in the same car within two hours of each other.

Just before 4.30pm  on Saturday Police received a report from a member of the public that a woman driving a Ford Falcon sedan had reversed out of the car park on the corner of Leichhardt Terrace and Parsons Street and crashed into a parked car.

Police found the 54-year-old female driver had hit a Hyundai Getz and then run over a bike rack. She was arrested and was found to be driving with a blood alcohol level of .179 per cent.

She has been charged with:

·        Drive with a high range blood alcohol content

·        Drive unlicensed

·        Drive without due care

·        Drive an unregistered motor vehicle

·        Drive an uninsured motor vehicle

She has been bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on December 15.

Just after 6.30pm police located the same car being driven west along Bradshaw Drive. Police pulled the 29-year-old male driver over as he turned into White Street and he was found to be driving with  blood alcohol content of .299 per cent. He was arrested and charged with:

·        Drive with a high range blood alcohol content

·        Drive disqualified

·        Drive an  unregistered motor vehicle

·        Drive an uninsured motor vehicle

He has been remanded in custody to appear in court on December 8.
