Child abuse charges Update #2 - Alice Springs

A 37-year-old woman has been charged in relation to incidents which allegedly occurred at a remote outstation south of Alice Springs .

Detective Acting Superintendent Travis Wurst  said the woman was one of three people arrested after police removed a group of youths and two adults from the facility earlier in the week.

“Investigations into allegations of maltreatment at the outstation led to the arrest of three staff members. A 67 year-old man and a 24-year-old man were charged with various offences late yesterday,” Det A/Supt Wurst said.

“A 37-year-old woman has now also been charged. She will face court on eight charges of deprivation of liberty and two of failing to provide the necessaries of life.

“All three have been granted conditional bail to appear in the Alice Springs magistrates Court on November 10.”
