Attempted sexual assault - Darwin

NT Police are calling for public assistance after an attempted sexual assault in the Darwin CBD yesterday morning.

Between the hours of midnight and 1:00am, a 21-year-old female backpacker was attacked by an unknown male who attempted to sexually assault her.

The alleged offender dragged the victim into a vacant block, situated on the corner of Cavenagh and Bennett Streets, where he attempted to sexually assault the victim before being scared away by a passing Police vehicle.

The offender is described as being approximately 180 centimetres tall, athletic build, tanned skin and short trimmed dark blonde hair.

Police are interested in speaking with the man whose image was taken from CCTV footage in the area around the time of the attack. Police urge this man to contact or attend the Berrimah (Peter McAulay Centre) Police Station.

Police would like to speak to any one who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
