Aggravated assault - Berrimah

Police

General Crime Detectives have arrested a 30-year-old male in relation to a serious assault that occurred in Berrimah on Saturday afternoon.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Board said it was reported to Police at around 5:00 pm that an altercation had occurred between a 53-year-old female and a 46-year-old male at the Salvation Army Sunrise Centre in Berrimah.

“The woman’s family member, a 30-year-old male, allegedly became involved and after a short foot chase, produced a knife,” said Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Board.

“The 46-year-old male was cut across the left ear and cheek, receiving a serious laceration which later required surgery.

“The staff at the centre provided first aid assistance before St John Ambulance members attended and conveyed the man to hospital.

“The offender left the scene in the victim’s car and was located this afternoon hiding at a residence in Malak. The man was arrested and is expected to be charged later this afternoon with serious harm, armed with an offensive weapon and unlawful use of motor vehicle. “
