Two-car crash - Borroloola

Borroloola police are investigating a two-car collision on the Carpentaria Highway yesterday morning.

Witnesses told police a utility travelling east along the highway veered into the path of a Toyota Landcruiser towing a caravan travelling west on the road. The crash occurred around 9am approximately 30 kilometres north of Cape Crawford.

The collision caused the Toyota to veer down an incline off the side of the road. The 58 year-old male driver and his 50-year-old female passenger escaped with minor injuries.

The 36-year-old male driver of the utility was dragged from the car before it caught fire. He sustained a broken leg and shoulder and head injuries and was medivaced to Darwin. His 45-year-old male passenger received minor injuries.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
