Police were conducting routine patrols of the area at approximately 12.52 am this morning when they came across the vehicle and attempted to stop it. However the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit commenced.

The driver led Police onto Malay Road then into Tasman Circuit, where the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Police apprehended the woman as she attempted to climb a fence into a residential property.

A breath test was conducted by Police at the scene which returned a positive result.

Police then searched the vehicle and located 7 grams of cannabis as well as several small clip seal bags.

The offender was taken to Darwin Watch House and charged with the following offences:

* Drive a motor vehicle while disqualified
* Possess cannabis in a public place
* Drive with low range blood alcohol content
* Drive an unregistered motor vehicle
* Fail to obey the signal of a member of the Police Force
