Thieves broke into two shipping containers and made off with more than $15,000 worth of tools and equipment at an industrial site in Alice Springs at the weekend.

A staff member noticed the break-in when he arrived at the Power and Water workplace on the Brewer Estate just after 6.30am on Sunday. The employee noticed two shipping containers were open and a large quantity of equipment and tools were missing. The property included various power tools, stilsons and welders.

Thieves appear to have entered the complex after cutting through a chain mesh fence to gain access.
