Stealing with violence – Lee Point - Update

Police

Detectives from the Casuarina Investigation Unit advise that the report of stealing with violence that occurred at Lee Point on Friday 7 May is unable to be substantiated.

It was originally reported to police that just after midnight on that day, two Caucasian men wearing balaclavas had approached a hire car in which two Finnish tourists were sleeping.

They were said to have demanded the pair get out before driving off.

Since then, Detectives have been unable to identify any suspects and conclusive evidence to corroborate the tourist's story cannot be found.

The vehicle was later discovered in bushland near Holmes Jungle reserve.

Items belonging to the Finnish tourists, including a laptop computer, mobile phones and electrical items have not been recovered.

The tourists have since left Australia.
