Darwin Police are calling for public assistance following a robbery in Darwin City at approximately 01:00 pm this afternoon.

A man stole a bag of money from security guards as they were unloading cash to a bank on Smith Street.

The offender came up behind one of the guards while the second guard was absent, grabbed the bag and ran towards Woolworths.

The offender is described as wearing a light blue shirt and white shorts.

Police urge anyone who witnessed the incident or saw someone matching the alleged offender's description in the area to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
