Road Train Fire – Victoria Highway

Police

Police from Katherine and Timber Creek have responded to a road train fire on the Victoria Highway about 125 kilometres south west of Katherine today.

The fire took hold just before 11 o'clock and has destroyed the prime mover and the first of two trailers carrying stock feed.

The driver escaped without injury but has been taken by Ambulance to Katherine hospital for observation.

The cause of the fire is not known but police do not believe it is suspicious.

Police have warned motorists to exercise caution near the intersection of the Victoria and Buntine Highways although the vehicle and trailers are off to the side of the road in a rest stop.
