Recovered stolen motorbikes - Palmerston

Palmerston Police would like to thank members of the public who assisted in the speedy recovery of stolen motorbikes Palmerston overnight.

Members conducted searches of Gunn and the surrounding areas and recovered three motorbikes and a quad bike.

Police recovered the first of three motorbikes shortly after 5:00 am at the rear of the Palmerston dump. The Honda XR600 was reported stolen from the Moulden area over the weekend.

The owner of a quad bike that was reported stolen this morning was searching for his own vehicle when he located a dumped motorbike in Gunn and alerted police. Information received from another member of the public resulted in the third stolen motorbike being located, also in the Gunn area. Both of these bikes were reported stolen to police at approximately 1:30 am.

The stolen quad bike was recovered at 9:25 am when police were alerted by a member of the public to a quad bike being ridden in the Palmerston area. Police were searching the area when they observed the quad bike crash into a fence, the 16-year-old male rider was apprehended as a result. The youth is currently assisting police with their investigations. He was not injured in the crash.

Superintendent Tony Fuller of Palmerston Police Station thanked the members of the public who assisted in the recovery of the bikes.

"Members of the public are our eyes and ears and you can be assured that we look at every report so that we can compile a picture of the activity of these offenders. Your report may assist in the recovery of someone else's valued property.

"There are still several offenders that need to be located and police will continue with their enquiries. We urge members of the public to report any suspicious activity or illegal riding of motorbikes and quads," he said.

Police are still seeking assistance from the public into the recovery of the following recent stolen motor vehicles from Palmerston / Howard Springs areas:

Silver Redco boat trailer and silver 12 foot tinnie, Rego TE3234, stolen from Howard Springs on 15 September
Black Atomic 150cc motorbike stolen from Bakewell on 17 September
Maroon Tata Telcoline 2004 model single cab utility, Rego 904803, stolen from Driver on 23 September
White 1991 Toyota Landcruiser 4WD, Rego 953674, stolen from Gunn on 1 October
Green Loncin 250 quad bike stolen from Bakewell on 4 October

Investigations are continuing.
