Methylamphetamine seizure - Fly Creek

Police

The man has been charged with more than 40 drug and firearms offences after detectives from the Drug Enforcement Section executed a warrant at the Fly Creek address about 2am on Saturday.

Officers found a range of drugs, related paraphernalia and weapons at the property, including methylamphetamine, pseudoephedrine, a Ruger mini 14 semi-automatic rifle and two stolen .22 calibre rifles.

Police also seized $34,000 cash found at the property.

Detective Senior Sergeant Clint Sims said: "It was particularly disturbing the man's children were at the property as he allegedly carried out the drug manufacture, placing them at serious risk of harm.

"These drugs were being manufactured in one of the most unhygienic environments in some of the worst imaginable conditions and these are the reasons that police always stress to people that you never really know what you are putting into your system when buying drugs on the illicit market," he said.

The man appeared in Darwin Magistrates Court this morning on 41 offences, including:
- Produce schedule 2 substance
- Recklessly endangering children
- Possess a precursor to a dangerous drug
- Possess article used in manufacture of dangerous drug
- Supply dangerous drug
- Administer drug to self
- Possess a dangerous drug
- Possess prohibited weapon
- Possess tainted property
- He has been remanded in custody and will reappear in court in six weeks. Media Note - If using the attached photos please credit NT Police
