Drug and firearm arrests – Berry Springs

Police



Members from the Palmerston Police Station, assisted by the Drug Enforcement Section and Dog Operations Unit, executed a search warrant on the residence after the 45-year-old female made admissions to being in possession of an amount of cannabis.

Located during the search was:
* 6.8 kilograms of loose cannabis plant material. Some of this material was in vacuum seal bags with one bag in the process of being sealed upon police attendance.
* 3 x cannabis plants
* 21 x shotgun shells
* 1 x Winchester 44 lever action rifle
* A disused hydroponics room

26 large half barrels, 3 x bath-tubs and a half 44 gallon drum were also located with numerous old rootballs of plants that had been harvested previously. It is alleged that at one stage there could have been close to 100 cannabis plants in the area.

The two offenders are currently in police custody. It is expected the 45-year-old female will be charged in relation to the following offences:

* Possession of cannabis - commercial
* Cultivate cannabis
* Possess firearm
* Unsecured firearm
* Possess ammunition
* Unsecured ammunition
* Possess tainted property
