NT Police are investigating the death of a 34-year-old man at Gunn Point over the weekend.

It is alleged the deceased and three friends were camping at Crabber Shack, Gun Point when he became unwell on Sunday morning and collapsed.

One of the men in the group left the camp to alert authorities and was assisted by a number of youths in the area.

The youths assisted authorities in locating the camp approximately 31 kilometres from the bitumen on Gun Point Road and a further 15 kilometres down a dirt track.

Palmerston Police and St John Ambulance attended the scene however the man was found deceased on arrival.

An autopsy will be conducted to establish the exact cause of the death.
