A 46-year-old man was arrested by police in Coconut Grove at approximately 2.30 am yesterday for driving offences.

The man was allegedly observed by police performing burnouts in a Holden Commodore around the roundabout of Progress Drive and Dickward Drive.

Police quickly apprehended the vehicle on Dickward Drive and the man returned a positive breath test.

He was arrested and conveyed to the Darwin Watch House where he returned a blood alcohol reading of .221 percent. His licence was suspended and he was charged with Drink Driving offences and offences under the Anti Hooning Act.

The man has been bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court at a date later this Month.
