Jamie Richardson

Meet Jamie!

Jamie Richardson is a Planning Officer with the NT Emergency Service.

She first commenced with the Service as an employee in December 2021, and shortly after settling in, was inspired to put up her hand as a volunteer as well.

“Whether it’s cyclones, floods, or search and rescue operations, our presence helps communities recover faster and stay connected in times of crisis,” said Ms Richardson.

“The work we do, alongside our dedicated volunteers, helps save lives and protect what matters most.”

Ms Richardson has made the most of the opportunities that NTES has presented.

She’s been deployed interstate and completed vertical rescue training – despite a fear of heights. In 2023, Ms Richardson was one of two winners Australia-wide to be awarded the Australasian Women in Emergencies Network’s Philippa Woolfe Scholarship, which allowed her to study her Diploma in Public Safety (Emergency Management).

As a Planning Officer, Ms Richardson plays a critical role in the Northern Territory’s disaster preparedness and resilience.

“I’ve had the opportunity to witness firsthand the incredible evolution of emergency management across the Territory.

“During the 2023 flooding events of Timber Creek, Kalkarindji, Daguragu, Yarralin, Ntjpirru, I assisted om the development of evacuation plans and other taskings.”

Ms Richardson says NTES is constantly adapting and growing its capabilities and training of volunteers.

“Looking ahead, I’m proud to be part of a team that continues to adapt, innovate and stand ready.

“The strength of NTES lies not just in our training or equipment, but in the commitment of people who deeply care about their communities.”
