The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 12-year-old male following four separate incidents in Katherine over a 36-hour period.

On Sunday, around 7pm, a male was jogging along the Victoria Highway when a group of youths allegedly began throwing various items at him. A group of youths proceeded to harass the male, throwing various items at him before a 12-year-old male allegedly brandished a weapon and verbally threatened him.

The victim sustained minor injuries and attended Katherine Hospital for treatment.

Yesterday, around 12:30 PM, the 12-year-old male was observed on CCTV to damage property within a Katherine shopping centre before security engaged with him.

Later that evening at approximately 11:30 PM, the 12-year-old male allegedly entered two separate residences in Katherine South.

The defendant is alleged to have damaged property and stolen a bicycle from one of the residences.

The victims in the matter provided Strike Force Cerberus members with independent CCTV which assisted in the identification of the 12-year-old male.

This morning at around 10:30 AM, the 12-year-old allegedly entered a residence in Katherine East where he attempted to gain entry to a shed. The victim in the matter observed the 12-year-old male who subsequently fled from the address.

Strike Force Cerberus arrested the male, and he was processed into custody at the Katherine Watch House.

Charges are expected to follow and investigations are ongoing.
