Northern Territory Police have completed the formal Disaster Victim Identification process following the fatal crash on the Stuart Highway earlier this month that claimed the lives of five people.
Police can confirm the five people who tragically lost their lives were:
- a 20-year-old woman
- a 23-year-old man
- a 23-year-old woman
- a 36-year-old man
- a 69-year-old woman.
Acting Commander Robert Griffiths said the families of all five people had now been notified following the completion of the formal identification process.
“This was an incredibly sad incident that resulted in five people losing their lives on our roads.
“The Disaster Victim Identification team undertook a complex and challenging process to formally identify those involved and ensure their families could be notified.
“I thank everyone involved for the professionalism and care shown throughout this process.”
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by the Major Crash Investigation Unit, with reports to be prepared for the Coroner.
