Northern Territory Police have arrested three people following an alleged break-in at Gray Oval in the early hours of this morning.

Around 2:45am, police received reports that the grandstand and caretaker's facility at Gray Oval had been unlawfully entered and extensively damaged.

It is alleged offenders smashed a security screen door, timber door, multiple windows and a CCTV monitor before forcing entry into a drinks fridge and stealing a quantity of alcohol. Police also located star pickets and a hammer, believed to have been used during the offending, left at the scene.

Later that morning, police received information relating to the location of the three offenders involved.

Strike Force Trident and general duties members attended, arresting two 17-year-old males and one 18-year-old male.

Police also located and seized a wheelie bin allegedly stolen from Gray Oval, which contained empty alcohol containers.

A fourth man, aged 20, was arrested at the address in relation to unrelated outstanding matters.

Territory Duty Superintendent Mark Bland said the alleged offending had caused significant damage to a valued community sporting facility.

"This is disappointing and senseless offending that has left a community facility damaged and disrupted for the people who use it.”

Investigations remain ongoing and charges are expected.
