Police

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested nine offenders in relation to a crime series in Alice Springs over the weekend.

Around 1:50am Friday, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received information that four males, including one armed with an edged weapon, had unlawfully entered a residence on Bloomfield Street, Gillen.

The 26-year-old male victim woke to find four males inside his residence who demanded car keys from him.

The four offenders fled the scene in two separate dark blue Honda CRVs.

One of the vehicles was later recovered by police and an 18-year-old male was arrested.

The outstanding dark blue Honda CRV was spotted on the scene of an aggravated burglary and robbery on Sunday where five male offenders armed with an edged weapon and metal poles unlawfully entered into a caravan occupied by a family of three on Ilparpa Road after smashing its windows.

The offenders allegedly threatened the family and demanded the car keys before stealing the family’s vehicle as well as cash and wallets. They then fled the scene.

CCTV operators spotted the Honda CRV on Bloomfield Street headed southbound. Police deployed Tyre Deflation Devices and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit was terminated 20km from Alice Springs and a search was undertaken after nine occupants of the vehicle abandoned the vehicle on Larapinta Drive.

Eight offenders were apprehended by Strike Force Viper and K9 units and conveyed to Ntaria Police Station. The ninth offender was located shortly after and also conveyed to Ntaria.

All offenders were later conveyed to Alice Springs.
