A man has been arrested following an aggravated robbery at a shopping centre in Palmerston on Sunday.
Around 10:10am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report a female was being assaulted by a male in an underground carpark of the shopping centre.
It is alleged the offender approached the victim from behind and took a hold of her as he demanded the vehicle keys.
The offender allegedly then entered the driver’s seat of the vehicle before the victim managed to get him to exit with the assistance of bystanders.
Police attended and arrested the 30-year-old male at the scene where an edged weapon was allegedly found in his possession. He is not believed to be known to the victim.
The victim suffered minor injuries and did not receive further treatment.
