A 55-year-old male has been charged in relation to an alleged indecent assault that occurred at a roadhouse in the Barkly region on Friday evening.

At 8pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report of an indecent assault at the campground of a roadhouse on the corner of the Barkly Highway and Tablelands Highway.

It is alleged a 55-year-old male had approached an adult female not known to him and indecently assaulted her.

Police attended and commenced investigations. The offender was arrested and conveyed to the Tennant Creek Watch House.

He has since been charged with Gross Indecency without Consent and was remanded to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court on 11 February.
