Northern Territory Police are calling for information after a police vehicle and a number of local businesses were rammed at Tennant Creek overnight.
About 12:13am this morning, police received a report that the gates of a business on Maloney Street had been rammed, with 3 vehicles stolen from the premises:
• a silver Toyota Hilux,
• a white Volkswagen Amarok and,
• a blue Proton Jumbuck.
A short time later, the vehicles were seen driving dangerously throughout the town.
An attempt to intercept the Hilux was unsuccessful and a brief pursuit was terminated before Police deployed tyre deflation devices, however the offending vehicle managed to evade the device.
The Amarok was later recovered. The Jumbuck remains outstanding.
The Hilux was then used in a series of serious offences.
At 2:39am, the Hilux rammed the front gate of the Tennant Creek Police Station, before returning 10 minutes later and striking the gate a second time, knocking it to the ground.
At 3:07am, the vehicle rammed the rear of a police vehicle returning to the station, fortunately no-one was injured.
At 3:14am, the stolen Hilux was used in a ram-raid at the Tennant Creek Hotel, where a quantity of alcohol was stolen. The vehicle fled the scene and remains outstanding.
At some time during the night, the Hilux also rammed a shopping complex and a civilian vehicle that was driving on Patterson Street.
Police urge anyone who has information, CCTV or dash-cam footage of the incidents, or who may know the current location of the stolen silver Toyota Hilux, to contact police on 131 444 and quote reference number P25329551.
