Two men have been arrested in relation to an aggravated assault that occurred at Bickerton Island yesterday afternoon.

Around 2:20pm, members from the Alyangula Police Station received reports that a male was being threatened at his workplace by two men armed with edged weapons.

The offenders are known to the victim.

Police from Alyangula attended Bickerton Island via air charter. Whilst they were in transit, the offenders left the island by ferry. The two men aged 23 and 24-years-old were subsequently arrested once the ferry arrived on Groote Eylandt.

The two men were charged in relation to Assault a worker and Going armed in public. They will appear in Alyangula Local Court on 23 September 2025. 

No injuries were reported to police and investigations are ongoing.
