Alcohol seizure - Wadeye

Police

Police have seized a large quantity of alcohol during a pro-active traffic operation in Wadeye over the weekend.

On Saturday around 6:30 pm, local police conducted a lawful search of a vehicle on Wadeye Main Access Road.

The search resulted in the seizure of 43 bottles of rum, totalling approximately 35 litres of alcohol.

A 23-year-old male was charged with a number of traffic and liquor related offences and is expected to appear in the Wadeye court on 9 September 2025. A vehicle was also seized.

A further traffic apprehension and vehicle search, led to the seizure of a further 4 bottles of rum and 240 grams of cannabis.

Two 26-year and 35-year-old males were charged with a number of traffic and liquor related offences, and both are expected to appear in the Wadeye court on 9 September 2025.

As a result of the traffic apprehensions a search warrant was executed on a residence in a remote community nearby, which led to the seizure of a further 7 Litres of spirits and a quantity of cannabis.

The street value of the seized liquor and drugs is estimated at $74,000.

Acting Senior Sergeant Ian Young said, “I want to commend the members involved in this seizure.

“These efforts contribute the reduction of alcohol related harm within the community, and we will continue to target individuals who supply restricted substances in vulnerable communities.
