The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested six male offenders after the stolen motor vehicle they were travelling in rammed a police vehicle in Alice Springs overnight.

Around 11:10pm, an unmarked police vehicle observed a beige Landcruiser driving in Gillen. The Landcruiser had previously been reported stolen from Barrett Drive on the weekend.

The stolen motor vehicle allegedly drove at the police vehicle without warning and rammed it, causing significant damage, before leaving the scene. The police member driving the police vehicle was uninjured but was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital for precautionary assessment.

Strike Force Viper and general duties members were deployed, and with assistance from the police drone and CCTV operators, located and tracked the stolen vehicle to Sadadeen where it was abandoned.

11 occupants were observed fleeing the vehicle and six male offenders aged 14, 14, 15, 15, 16, and 20 were arrested. They remain in police custody with charges expected to follow.

Five unknown offenders remain outstanding, and investigations are ongoing.
